A Deeper Look: How Technology Can Enhance Written Communication Skills

Presented by: Judith P. Sweeney, Onion Mountain Technology

Judi Sweeney has worked in the field of education since 1969. She has been a regular education teacher (secondary English) and special education teacher in both public and private schools. She also taught and managed projects and grants in assistive and educational technology at the University of Connecticut for over 10 years.

This presentation will feature unusual and creative lessons and strategies using low to high tech tools. One of the first areas addressed in special education was writing. How excited we were to provide our students with word processors and eventually spell checkers! But it’s time to take another look and determine just how technologies can help us help students develop real and vital components of written literacy. Learn low to high tech tools, techniques and strategies for creating lessons that develop written discourse. If technology can help teach the skill, we’ll find a way to make it work for you and your students in creative ways. Lunch included.
