Buy and Donate Disability Equipment at NEAT

NEAT sells and accepts donations of gently used durable medical equipment to help people with disabilities live, learn and work.

For over 100 years, Oak Hill continues to be the disability leader in Connecticut (History); and is pleased to announce its expanded services at the NEAT Center at Oak Hill where we bring people together with the equipment that makes life more accessible.

Did you know?

One in 2.7 million Americans over the age of 15 uses a wheelchair. If you donate your disability equipment, you’re helping someone in need and you’re helping to reduce waste by recycling. 

The NEAT Center at Oak Hill has a wide variety of adaptive medical equipment (link to inventory); assistive technology services and educational resources; a fully accessible facility in which to visit and try equipment. Learn more about types of adaptive devices and durable equipment.

The NEAT Center at Oak Hill is a recognized provider with the State Birth to Three System to provide reutilized equipment and services for children ages three and under.  

The Equipment Restoration Center (ERC) has a large inventory of gently used durable medical equipment. It is where you can:

  • Purchase restored equipment (walkers, canes, shower benches, wheelchairs, scooters, and much more)
  • Save 50% to 80% of the cost of the same item when new
  • Donate equipment to benefit people with limited or no insurance coverage; or in need of a “spare” wheelchair
  • Call to arrange for free pick up of your equipment, its tax deductible!

You can be evaluated to determine which piece of equipment or technology is best for you. Examples of adaptive equipment:

  • Scanning and reading machines
  • Portable note takers
  • Bar code readers
  • Computer and adaptive software

Are there specific items that you need?
Yes, folding lightweight wheelchairs; tub benches; rollator walkers (they have hand brakes, storage basket and a seat); and ramps. We do not want manual hospital beds or non-folding walkers.

May I donate gently used durable medical equipment? Will you pick it up?
Yes, Oak Hill accepts most gently used durable medical equipment and will arrange free pick up from your home or business. Your donation is also tax-deductible. For more information please call (860) 286-3106. To arrange for pick-up, please call (860) 286-3107.
